From the bulb inside the head. The eyes and the mouth are cut-outs in the matte black iron, so warm amber light reads through them while the same bulb warms the wax below. Nothing in the jar is lit — no flame, no smoke.
Can I use my own jar candle in this Halloween candle warmer?
Yes. The low square base has a round recess in the middle, and your jar stands in that recess directly under the chin, with the warming plate at the rim. Use a jar candle rather than a pillar, so the melted wax stays in its container.
Why do candles turn black around the jar, and does this warmer do it too?
That black is soot, and it only appears when a wick is burning. This warmer never lights the wick — the heat comes from the bulb above — so there is no burning, and nothing to leave soot on the jar, the shade or the wall behind it.
Does this Halloween candle warmer have a timer or a dimmer?
Neither. The base carries no controls at all — no knob, no button, no timer display — and the cord exits at the back right. Those controls belong to our classic lamp series. With this one you switch it off yourself when you are done.
